Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Fall and Winter, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene performing for your pleasure in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best loved lounges.
JEFF JONES is a revered Toronto jazz singer who has performed in clubs and live theatrical presentations for decades, and still remains at the top of his game. He was an integral part of the respected ‘The Gospel Project’ — a 20-voice group of outstanding vocalists including Jackie Richardson, Debbie Fleming, Colina Phillips, Sharon Lee Williams, and David Blamires – produced by Keith Whiting originally for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Piano preeminence TOM SZCZESNIAK, veteran musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, orchestrator, is one of the most respected artists in the national and international jazz communities. With the release of his critically acclaimed ‘Waltz for Bill’ (2012) recording, Szczesniak was praised as having ‘moved to the creative forefront with a piano-centric project that is thrilling on all levels’. He has performed on the scores of more than 100 feature films, numerous TV shows, and over 1,000 commercials. As a composer and arranger, he is the 12-time recipient of the prestigious SOCAN Award for Film and Television Music, an Emmy Award, and an International Film Festival of New York Award for his commercial work.
This evening’s singing star JEFF JONES and the powerhouse TOM SZCZESNIAK TRIO featuring TOM SZCZESNIAK (piano), KIERAN OVERS (bass), and TERRY CLARKE (drums), entertain in the up-close-and-personal ambience of the Home Smith Bar.
