Through the years, Toronto-based jazz singer MAUREEN KENNEDY has performed at leading venues and arts events in and around Toronto and in other Canadian cities including Vancouver.
Ted Ono, the producer of Out of the Shadows, her second CD release says, “She sings with understatement while still retaining her jazz identity…What she and her accomplished accompanists successfully achieve here is the art of good mainstream jazz, the kind listeners find both comforting and enticing.”
Maureen is planning to record her third album this spring for the Vancouver-based jazz label Cellar Live. The record will include instrumental jazz tunes that Maureen has written lyrics to as well as carefully chosen material from her extensive repertoire.
Canadian radio and television personality Ralph Benmergui described her as “…ethereal, soulful, (with) a singular voice that is immediate in its impact and timeless in its breadth…”
For tonight’s Old Mill Hotel performance, singing star MAUREEN KENNEDY features stellar musicians JEFF McLEOD (piano), BEN BISHOP (guitar), and JON MEYER (bass), entertaining in the cozy intimacy of the Home Smith Bar.
