Over the course of his career, JULES ESTRIN has performed internationally in France, Ireland, Scotland, England, and the United States, as well as jazz festivals across Canada while maintaining a busy schedule giving master classes and lectures on wind band and jazz band pedagogy.

In his tenth year as Musical Director of the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band program, his groups have performed with legendary jazz artists Randy Brecker, Bucky Pizzarelli, Lew Tabackin, Tom Scott, Wycliffe Gordon, Joey DeFrancesco, and Guido Basso.  In 2010, the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band opened for Al Jarreau at the Brantford International Jazz Festival.

His groups have also performed with Clark Terry, Don Menza, Rob McConnell, Moe Koffman, Alex Dean, Kelly Jefferson, Alastair Kay, Brian O’Kane, Shirantha Beddage, Ron Westray, and Sundar Viswanathan.

As a professional trombonist, Jules Estrin has appeared with many internationally renowned entertainers and musicians including Matt Dusk, Kenny Wheeler, PJ Perry, Paul Anka, Franki Valli and the Four Seasons, and many others.  A graduate of McGill University, Estrin has a Masters degree from the University of Toronto.

This evening’s all-star JULES ESTRIN QUARTET features jazz masters ALEX DEAN on saxophone, RICHARD WHITEMAN (piano), and DUNCAN HOPKINS (bass), entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of the Home Smith Bar.
