Stellar performer, composer and recording artist JOHN MacMURCHY plays host for the first in a “Wednesday Night Jazz Party” monthly series, each time featuring a different jazz quartet, and always showcasing some unannounced musical A-listers dropping by to join the party!
A respected woodwind player, MacMurchy concentrates on clarinet, tenor saxophone, and baritone saxophone and is fluent in jazz and classical repertoire. He has released five full length records to critical acclaim and international airplay. John has worked with international artists as varied as Warren Vache, Howard Alden, Guido Basso, Henry Mancini, Cleo Laine, Linda Ronstadt, Carol Channing, Peter Appleyard, and John Dankworth as well as being in demand as a sideman on the Toronto scene.
This evening’s ‘Wednesday Night Jazz Party’ gets the series off to a roof-raising start with four of the City’s finest – leader JOHN MacMURCHY on saxophones and flute, MARK EISENMAN on piano, PAT COLLINS on bass, and DANIEL BARNES on drums – entertaining for your pleasure in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
