At the vanguard of ‘The New Jazz Generation’ while still in her fourth year in the University of Toronto’s prestigious jazz studies program, JENNA MARIE PINARD possesses a signature jazz and blues voice that hints at Sarah Vaughan and Aretha Franklin, but is distinctly her own. She is best known for her smooth-sounding jazz and rich R&B vocals, her wide vocal range, and passionate performances. She is quickly gaining reputation in Toronto as a uniquely warm spirit and engaging performer. Originally from Montreal, Jenna Marie now lives in Toronto and studies Jazz Voice Performance at the University of Toronto under Christine Duncan and Chase Sanborn.
She is a bandleader, arranger, songwriter and improviser, currently working on multiple projects including the Jenna Marie Quintet, Jazz United, the Jazz United Jam, the Jenna Marie and Hannah Barstow Duo, Golddiggers Trio, and Jenna Marie Sings R&B. This year, the University of Toronto Vocal Jazz Ensemble performed her compositions and arrangements at Walter Hall (2017-2018). She is also a Via Rail Artist Onboard, and has travelled to Halifax as an acoustic guitarist and singer. Last summer, Jenna Marie made her Big Band debut as the guest vocalist for the University of Toronto Hart House Jazz Ensemble at the Rex Hotel.
She recently sang alongside many of Canada’s best tap dancers at Toronto Rhythm Initiatives’ production of “TRI Explores the Music of Ella Fitzgerald”. She was the feature vocalist at Ottawa’s “The Arts Court Theatre” show and was the guest vocalist at Toronto’s “The Great Hall” performance.
