Multi-faceted pianist/vocalist/composer FERN LINDZON was a 2012 JUNO Award Nominee (“Vocal Jazz Album of the Year”) for her second CD (Two Kites).  With the 2014 release of her third critically acclaimed CD, ‘Like a Circle in a Spiral’, she has continued to put her own, unique spin on contemporary jazz.

She describes that recording as the culmination to date of a fascinating musical journey that began when she took classical voice and piano lessons as a child and continued through a degree in music history at the University of Toronto, studies with Frank Falco and Don Thompson and on, as a performer, into jazz and world music.

Lindzon possesses a technique The WholeNote Magazine called ‘breathtakingly beautiful’, jazz critic Mark Miller wrote ‘is secure in her sense of herself, her art, and her craft’, and ‘New Canadian Music’ described as “one of the most adventurous and accomplished vocalists, pianists, and songwriters on the T.O. jazz scene”.

This evening’s stellar FERN LINDZON TRIO features jazz masters COLLEEN ALLEN on saxophones and flute and PETER TELFORD on bass, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
