Double bassist, composer, and arranger DUNCAN HOPKINS has been working at the highest levels of jazz for almost thirty years. In that time, he has worked with such luminaries as Rob McConnell, Scott Hamilton, Houston Person, Warren Vache, Ed
Bickert, Mark Murphy, Peter Appleyard, Dianna Krall, Kenny Wheeler, Sam Rivers, Harry Allen, Sheila Jordan and Edward Simon.
He was the bassist with the venerable Canadian Jazz Quartet for almost a decade before moving to Europe. He has toured extensively throughout Canada, Great Britain, Europe, Brazil, and the United States, and can be heard on more than fifty albums and numerous CBC, BBC and NPR recordings.
“Hopkins’ seamless counter melodic flow … is reminiscent of the late Bill Evans’ sideman Scott La Faro.” (John Fordham, The Guardian, UK)
This evening’s stellar DUNCAN HOPKINS TRIO also features BRIAN DICKINSON on piano and TED QUINLAN on guitar, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
