Originally from Halifax where they were prominent performers from their adolescent years, the Vickery Twins have enjoyed successful, but separate jazz careers at either side of the country for nearly six successful decades since.
A leading figure on the West Coast jazz scene, hard-swinging pianist TOM VICKERY has hosted the longest running regular jazz jam in the country at Victoria’s famed Hermann’s Jazz Club for more than 30 years, while brother DON VICKERY continues a lifelong career as a drummer, delivering his trademark timekeeping and brilliant brushwork across the Toronto jazz landscape, where he recently wrapped his 44th year teaching on the percussion faculty at Humber College.
Stellar bassist PAT COLLINS rejoins the Vickerys to reprise the Trio who played on the “Double Take” (Cornerstone Records) album they launched at the venerated Montreal Bistro in 2001. Respected Toronto saxophonist DAVID CALDWELL — a friend since childhood and original member of the teenage Tommy Vickery Band in Halifax — also guests, as he did on the still-in-airplay “Double Take” CD.
