Brooklyn-based contemporary vibraphonist DAN McCARTHY makes his Home Smith Bar debut tonight with some of Canada’s finest musicians: TED QUINLAN on guitar, PAT COLLINS on bass, and TED WARREN on drums.

Known for his “show-stopping” and “arresting” style (George Harris, ‘All About Jazz’ Los Angeles), Toronto-born McCarthy has been a regular performer on the New York jazz scene since 2004. He has performed or recorded with great musicians including Steve Swallow, Ben Monder, Ari Hoenig, and George Garzone.

McCarthy’s dark and brooding compositional style, along with his unexpected and angular improvisation, led Nate Chinen at The New York Times to label Dan as “…a vibraphonist with a charismatic and pointedly contemporary style…”
