BONNIE BRETT has been a favorite of Toronto jazz audiences for over two decades. Known as a swinging singer of great power and finesse, she has headlined many concerts and club venues, most notably The Home Smith Bar, The Montreal Bistro, The Top o’ The Senator, and The REX. She has appeared at the du Maurier Downtown Jazz Festival, the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, the Port Hope All Canadian Jazz Festival, and the Festival International de Jazz du Montreal.
Bonnie’s repertoire is sophisticated and sweet but also fun and swingy – vocal jazz at its finest.
“She’s a classy singer … technically adroit, matching the well
seasoned expertise of her companions.”
(Geoff Chapman, Toronto Star)
“…very natural – artless in the best sense of the word…”
(Mark Miller, The Globe & Mail)
Tonight, BONNIE BRETT returns to the Home Smith Bar with her long-time rhythm section, bassist STEVE WALLACE and pianist MARK EISENMAN, with whom she has recorded two albums — Live At The Montreal Bistro and The Elvis Costello Song Book. Expect to hear some rare movie music, a swinging cowboy song or two, and some less often heard pearls from the jazz standards repertoire.
