Since her JUNO-nominated debut album “Stealing Genius” with trumpeter William Sperandei, AMY McCONNELL has been a popular presence in the Canadian jazz scene, moving stylishly through 20th century music, and transitioning effortlessly from traditional to modern repertoire as she covers songwriters like Cole Porter, Michel Legrand, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell.
McConnell is fluently bilingual and frequently performs in French. Known for her beautiful voice, impeccable intonation, and emotional approach, her style encompasses jazz, pop, and musical theatre. She released her second album “Accomplice” (with William Sperandei) in 2016 and she has begun work on her third album, to be released in the Spring.
