Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Spring, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
An undisputed jazz icon, drummer TERRY CLARKE is an Order of Canada member, Juno Award winner, a 25-year veteran of the famed ‘Rob McConnell and The Boss Brass’, and a founding member of The Rob McConnell Tentet. For years, he worked extensively all over the world with jazz guitar legend Jim Hall and piano giant, Oscar Peterson.
He has performed on several Grammy-winning albums, was named ‘Drummer of the Year’ every year throughout the National Jazz Awards’ existence, can be heard on more than 300 recordings, and continues to tour the globe with a ‘who’s who’ of the biggest names in jazz. In 2009, he released his first album as a leader (“It’s About Time” featuring Jim Hall, Greg Osby, Joe Lovano, Phil Dwyer, and Don Thompson) winning a Juno Award the following year for ‘Traditional Jazz Album of the Year’.
This evening’s all-star TERRY CLARK TRIO also features jazz masters JOHN SHERWOOD on piano and STEVE WALLACE on bass, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
