Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Fall and Winter, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene performing for your pleasure in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best loved lounges.
TERRA HAZELTON is a true Renaissance woman. She is a Canadian Jazz vocalist and band leader, record producer, two-time Canadian Screen Award nominated Actress, former national radio host (JAZZ.FM91), and budding visual artist.
Upon returning from NY where she studied musical theatre in Manhattan at the prestigious American Musical and Dramatic Academy, she relocated to Toronto, where she was soon discovered by the late Jeff Healey, remaining in his band The Jazz Wizards, for six years. Hazelton’s debut album (produced by and featuring Healey) was released in 2004. In 2009 she released her “Gimme Whatcha Got” album (Vinyl Cafe). Her most recent studio album “That’s All” is a live-off-the-floor recording featuring Nathan Hiltz and Jordan O’Connor.
As an accomplished actress, she was cast in Canadian cult film “FUBAR 2″ for which she received a Genie nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She can also be seen in a web series called “Whatever Linda”, as well as in her recurring role on the hit TV series ‘Orphan Black’. She continues to be a key performer on the Toronto jazz scene with The Hogtown Syncopators, Terra Hazelton & Her Easy Answers, and The Jivebombers.
This evening’s singing star TERRA HAZELTON features jazz masters RICHARD WHITEMAN on piano, and DREW JURECKA on violin, saxophone, and vocals, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of the Home Smith Bar.
