Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Spring, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
World-touring pianist STEVE KOVEN has performed and taught all over the globe for more than 25 years; composes music for film and television; has conducted improvisation and musical self-expression master classes and workshops in China, Japan, Colombia, Barbados, the Bahamas, Mexico, and across North America; and in 2013, celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Steve Koven Trio,
with the release of “20”, their critically-praised ninth CD. Touring the globe for more than two decades, the Steve Koven Trio have become known as ‘Canadian Cultural Ambassadors’.
As well as performing worldwide with his trio, Koven performs solo piano concerts throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean. As an educator, he has been on the Faculty of Music at Toronto’s York University since 2003, teaching Contemporary Improvisation and Jazz Piano. He also teaches Musical Entrepreneurship at Centennial College in Toronto, and holds a Masters in Music Composition.
This evening’s all-star Steve Koven Trio features jazz masters STEVE KOVEN on piano, ROB CLUTTON on bass, and ANTHONY MICHELLI on drums, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
