Every Friday and Saturday throughout the sizzling summer, the coolest place to be is the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto where some of the most important instrumentalists on today’s jazz scene entertain in the charming intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
Veteran of some of jazz history’s most illustrious big bands including the Woody Herman Orchestra, the Count Basie Band, and The Boss Brass, award-winning trombonist RUSS LITTLE’s dazzling career spans more than four decades at the forefront of the North American entertainment industry. From the ‘70s, he enjoyed an enviable career as a conductor/composer/arranger for the CBC, CTV, and Global Television, also writing and conducting for NBC, ABC, and the famed SCTV comedy series. A much sought-after session musician through all of it, he has produced four widely-acclaimed CDs over the last decade: Snapshot (2005), Footwork (2006), On the Shoulders of Giants (2008), and Slow Burn (2011). This evening’s all-star Trio also features jazz greats REG SCHWAGER on guitar and NEIL SWAINSON on bass, performing for your pleasure in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
