Russ Little Quartet

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Fall and Winter, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene performing for your pleasure in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best loved lounges.

Veteran of some of jazz history’s most illustrious big bands including the Woody Herman Orchestra, the Count Basie Band, and Rob McConnell’s ‘The Boss Brass’, an original (and continuing) member of ‘Lighthouse’, long-time member of David Clayton-Thomas’s band, and National Jazz Awards nominee and winner, trombone giant RUSS LITTLE’s dazzling career spans more than four decades at the forefront of the North American entertainment industry.

He enjoyed an enviable career as a conductor/composer/arranger for major North American television programs and specials from the ‘70s, until in 2005 he shifted his creative focus toward production of his own recordings, since releasing four successful CDs featuring the Russ Little Quintet.  For the past several years, he has been Musical Director for the Home Smith Bar’s sell-out “Jazz Festival Within THE Jazz Festival” in conjunction with the TD Toronto International Jazz Festival.

This evening’s all-star RUSS LITTLE QUARTET features jazz masters RUSS LITTLE (trombonist), TOM SZCZESNIAK on piano, SCOTT ALEXANDER on bass, and DAVIDÉ DiRENZO on drums, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
