Ron Westray Trio

Every Friday and Saturday throughout the sizzling summer, the coolest place to be is the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto where some of the most important instrumentalists on today’s jazz scene entertain in the charming intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.

Tonight, we feature superb musician and composer RON WESTRAY, best-known for his work as lead trombonist with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra directed by Wynton Marsalis, and his collaborations with the great Wycliffe Gordon.  He has appeared in concert with the world’s luminaries, and is a standing member of the Mingus Band.  As a regular on the New York club circuit, he’s played the Village Vanguard, Blue Note, Sweet Basil’s, Iridium, Jazz Standard, and Smalls.  In 2009, he joined the faculty of York University where he holds the Oscar Peterson Chair in Jazz Performance. This evening’s all-star Trio also features bassist ROSS MacINTYRE and drummer ANTHONY MICHELLI, performing for your pleasure in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
