Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Spring, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
NANCY WALKER‘s music reflects her view of the times we live in: at times intense, at times poignant, at times cerebral. The Toronto-based pianist and composer has been recognized with honors Canada-wide, including the National Jazz Awards Keyboardist Of The Year Award, the Montréal International Jazz Festival’s prestigious Grand Prix de Jazz, a JUNO nomination for Instrumental Album Of The Year, and an induction into the Mississauga Music Walk Of Fame.
She has recorded and performed in concert with the cream of Canada’s jazz crop including saxophonist Kirk MacDonald, vocalist Emilie-Claire Barlow, bassist John Geggie, and trumpeter Bruce Cassidy. Walker has several discs to her credit as leader. Her most recent release, ‘Til Now Is Secret (Addo Records), showcases ten of her original compositions, inspired by landscapes, visual art, architecture, and more. The recording features multi-reed player Shirantha Beddage, guitarist Ted Quinlan, bassist Kieran Overs and drummer Ethan Ardelli.
This evening’s all-star NANCY WALKER TRIO also features jazz masters KIERAN OVERS on bass and ETHAN ARDELLI on drums, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
