Morgan Childs Trio

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Spring, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.

Consummate drummer MORGAN CHILDS is the recipient of three consecutive Galaxy Rising Star Awards at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, two Montreal Jazz Festival Grand Prix du Jazz Awards (with Amanda Tosoff in 2009 and Robi Botos in 2012), and a TD Fellowship in Jazz from the Banff Centre.

Originally from Invermere, British Columbia, Childs spent ten years on the Vancouver music scene before making the 2009 move to Toronto where he has built an international career performing with some of the world’s finest musicians. Highly regarded among his peers for his deep swing feel, sensitivity, versatility, and musicality, as well as a reverence for jazz history and a wide-ranging musical vocabulary, he is also an accomplished composer and bandleader.

This evening’s all-star MORGAN CHILDS TRIO also features jazz masters JEFF McLEOD on piano and NEIL SWAINSON on bass, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
