Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Winter, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
Accomplished trumpet player JOSH GROSSMAN is the Artistic Director of the TD Toronto Jazz Festival; founding Artistic Director and Conductor for the 18-piece Toronto Jazz Orchestra, now in its 16th year, with three full-length recordings in release; Performance Manager for The Glenn Gould School at The Royal Conservatory of Music for four years; and Artistic Director for the Markham Jazz Festival until 2009. His impressive performance roster includes playing with major names Kurt Elling, Seamus Blake, Ingrid Jensen, and Geoffrey Keezer, and in big bands under the direction of several celebrated leaders including Phil Nimmons, Paul Read, Ron Collier, and Paul Ashwell. He has been a member of The Chris Hunt Tentet since 2002.
This evening’s stellar trio also features jazz masters DON SCOTT on guitar and JON MAHARAJ on bass, entertaining amid the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
