Hilario Duran Trio

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Winter, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.

Havana-born pianist, composer, arranger, orchestra leader, and jazz educator  HILARIO DURAN is globally respected as one of the world’s most innovative creators of Afro-Cuban Music and Latin Jazz.  He was musical director for legendary Cuban jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval for nine years.  Multiple Grammy winner Chucho Valdés called him “…unparalleled…one of the greatest Cuban pianists of the 20th Century…”. He is a twice-nominated and two-time Juno Award winner.  He has been honored at the National Jazz Awards in Canada more than a dozen times, earned a Grammy nomination in 2007, and in 2009, was named one of the 10 most influential Hispanic Canadians.

This evening’s all-star trio also features jazz masters JUSTIN GRAY on bass and AMHED MITCHEL on drums, entertaining amid the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
