Denny Christianson Quartet


Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Fall and Winter, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene performing for your pleasure in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best loved lounges.   

Best known for leading the Montreal Big Band which bears his name, and since 2001, as Director of Music Studies at Humber College, trumpet/flugelhorn notable DENNY CHRISTIANSON has performed and recorded with legendary jazz greats including Pepper Adams, Diane Shurr, Tony Bennett, Michel Legrand, Carmen McRae, Ed Shaughnessy, Hubert Laws, J.J. Johnson, Sweets Edison, Mose Allison, and Dee Dee Bridgewater. 

During a studio career spanning 30 years in Los Angeles, Montreal, and Toronto, he recorded over 250 albums with pop greats including Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, and Diana Ross.  He worked on international television with Sammy Davis Jr. for many years, recorded numerous movie sound tracks, and served as producer for 15 albums.  Christianson’s seven albums as leader have received eight Juno and Felix nominations.

This evening’s all-star DENNY CHRISTIANSON QUARTET features jazz masters DENNY CHRISTIANSON (trumpet, flugelhorn), BRIAN DICKINSON on piano, MIKE DOWNES on bass, and MARK KELSO on drums, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
