David Occhipinti

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, The Home Smith Bar is a showcase for some of the most important instrumentalists and outstanding singers on today’s jazz scene performing in the charming intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.

Tonight, we feature two-time Juno Award nominee, guitarist/composer DAVID OCCHIPINTI (for Forty Revolutions in 2007 and Duologue in 2003).   On his most recent CD release, Camera, he combines elements of contemporary chamber music with improvisation, featuring his own compositions and a unique instrumental assembly.   During the mid 1990s, Occhipinti studied in New York with the legendary jazz guitarist and composer, Jim Hall, and has ever since performed all over Canada, across the U.S.A., Europe, Japan, and in Italy, where he lived for almost three years. This evening’s all-star Trio also features accomplished bassist DAN FORTIN and Order of Canada recipient TERRY CLARKE, performing for your pleasure in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
