Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Spring, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
2014 JUNO Award-winning trumpeter, composer, and ‘cultural inventor’, DAVID BUCHBINDER has been involved in World Music and Jazz since 1987, earning a reputation as one of its leading lights through The Flying Bulgars, his own Jazz Ensemble and, most recently, his Odessa/Havana Project. He leads numerous music groups, composes for concert, theatre, film and television, presents large-scale performance projects, and has toured extensively in North America and Europe. He has received two JUNOs and one Canadian Folk Music Award as well as six JUNO, two NationalJazz Award, and two CFMA nominations.
He was the creator of the world-renowned Ashkenaz Festival. He is also the creator/producer of numerous multidisciplinary works including Andalusia to Toronto, commissioned by Koerner Hall to open its 2011/12 season.
This evening’s all-star DAVID BUCHBINDER TRIO also features jazz masters DAVID RESTIVO on piano and ANDREW DOWNING on bass, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
