Dave Young Quartet

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, The Home Smith Bar is a showcase for some of the most important instrumentalists and outstanding singers on today’s jazz scene performing in the charming intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.

Multiple award-winning bassist DAVE YOUNG had a 35-year working relationship with jazz icon Oscar Peterson who called him “one of the most talented bassists on the jazz scene”. Young’s elegant performances throughout a five-year association with the late guitarist Lenny Breau are legendary.  He has collaborated with all of the genre’s brightest luminaries, served as an educator on the faculties of this country’s most prestigious learning institutions, and thrilled audiences on recordings and in live concert everywhere leading his own bands and ensembles.   He was awarded the Order of Canada in 2007. This evening’s all-star Dave Young Quartet also features KEVIN TURCOTTE on trumpet, pianist GARY WILLIAMSON, and drummer MAX ROACH, performing for your pleasure in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
