Christopher Simmons Trio

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Fall & Winter, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important entertainers on today’s jazz scene performing for your pleasure in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.

CHRISTOPHER SIMMONS is an award winning pianist/composer. His music captures and reveals several genres of music influenced by blues, contemporary, classical, gospel, new age. and jazz. The compositions maintain a stylistic consistency that provides a solid foundation for highly active interplay and soulful expression. Throughout his career, Simmons has performed and recorded with acclaimed and jazz musicians including Chris Wood, Donny McCaslin, Gene Calderazzo, Jeff Hirshfield, Jay Anderson, and Robert Bonisolo. 

He was Musical Director/Pianist at the Centennial birthday tribute to the late Duke Ellington at the Triad off-Broadway Theater in New York City. The tribute featured renowned gospel/jazz vocalist Karl Dixon, and several special guests including Duke’s only sibling, his late sister Ruth Ellington.  Now living in Toronto, Simmons performs at clubs and festivals solo and with his trio, and is also part of the performing roster of the UHN’s “Music Can Heal” program. His most recent CD “Know The Now” (recorded at Noble Street Studios in Toronto) features all original compositions. 

This evening’s all-star CHRISTOPHER SIMMONS TRIO features jazz masters CHRISTOPHER SIMMONS on piano, ARTIE ROTH on bass, and drummer ANTHONY MICHELLI, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
