Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Spring, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
Tonight, we feature the exemplary piano mastery of BERNIE SENENSKY, lynchpin member of the Moe Koffman Quintet who recorded with jazz lions including Oscar Peterson and Marian McPartland, and was a featured performer with Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Rob McConnell and The Boss Brass, the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra, and the Elvin Jones Quartet. He was twice named ‘Best Acoustic Pianist’ in Jazz Report Awards voting, and he won the distinguished SOCAN Award for ‘Best Jazz Composition’ for his ‘Blues for Clifford’ work.
This evening’s stellar BERNIE SENENSKY TRIO also features jazz master NEIL SWAINSON on bass and TERRY CLARKE on drums, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
