Andrew Scott Trio

First Tuesday and every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Winter, The Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important entertainers on today’s jazz scene performing for your pleasure in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.

Many-faceted guitarist, arranger, composer, educator, and prolific recording artist ANDREW SCOTT’s undisputed excellence has earned him a Toronto Independent Music Award, a Canadian Urban Music Award, four Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, and two National Jazz Award nominations.  He swings with a repertoire that includes blues, ballads, and bebop, consistently delivering what JazzTimes Magazine called “…his robust, authoritative tone and stunning improvisational command, twisting a melody around the fretboard until he’s wrung it for all it’s worth…”

In both live performance and on record, Scott demonstrates a commitment to the tradition of swing and bebop guitar playing. As a guitarist, composer and bandleader, his music has been heard in concerts, on recordings and in film and television projects for the past twenty years.

Andrew Scott has released four internationally recognized CDs (This One’s for Barney; Blue Mercer; Nostalgia; and most recently, Strange Music). In addition to his activities as a recording artist and performer, Dr. Scott is Associate Dean and a Professor of Music in Humber College’s School of Creative and Performing Arts where he oversees the Music Business and Music Marketing areas.

This evening’s all-star ANDREW SCOTT TRIO features jazz masters ANDREW SCOTT (guitar), JAKE WILKINSON (trumpet, piano), and JON MEYER (bass), entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of the Home Smith Bar.
