Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the Spring, the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto showcases some of the most important instrumentalists and leading vocalists on today’s jazz scene in the cozy intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
Multi-faceted guitarist, arranger, composer, and prolific recording artist ANDREW SCOTT’s undisputed excellence has earned him a Toronto Independent Music Award, a Canadian Urban Music Award, four Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, and two National Jazz Award nominations. He swings on strings with a repertoire that includes blues, ballads, and bebop, consistently delivering what JazzTimes Magazine called “…his robust, authoritative tone and stunning improvisational command, twisting a melody around the fretboard until he’s wrung it for all it’s worth…”.
Demonstrating his commitment to the tradition of mainstream swing and bebop guitar playing, Scott has released three internationally recognized CDs for the Sackville record label (This One’s for Barney; Blue Mercer; Nostalgia). In addition to his activities as a recording artist and performer, Dr. Scott is active as a journalist and educator, currently teaching at Humber College in Toronto.
This evening’s all-star ANDREW SCOTT TRIO also features jazz masters JAKE WILKINSON on trumpet and piano and JON MEYER on bass, entertaining in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
