Every Friday and Saturday throughout the sizzling summer, the coolest place to be is the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto where some of the most important instrumentalists on today’s jazz scene entertain in the charming intimacy of one of Toronto’s best-loved lounges.
Tonight, we feature outstanding trumpeter ALEXIS BARO, who has established himself among the premiere artists on the Canadian jazz landscape. He is a three-time National Jazz Awards nominee as “Trumpet Player of the Year”, co-winner of a Juno Award, and co-recipient of a Gemini Award. He was a long-time featured player with Archie Alleyne’s “Kollage”. Baro has been the opening act for the great Herbie Hancock, and performed and recorded with leading entertainment giants including David Foster, Paul Shaffer, Andrea Bocelli, Paquito D’Rivera, and Joey DeFrancesco. This evening’s stellar Quintet also features pianist STAN FOMIN, bassist LOUIS BOTOS, and AMHED MITCHEL on drums, performing for your pleasure in the up-close-and-personal ambience of The Home Smith Bar.
